Industrial diamonds are very abrasive and sensational sharpening tools.
Diamond plate is a steel plate, sometimes mounted on a plastic or wooden base and coated with an abrasive diamond grit that will grind metal. When they are mounted they are sometimes known as diamond stones.
Diamond plates can serve many purposes including sharpening steel tools.
Most sharpening can be performed by fine (600) grit diamond. This fine grit diamond has the abrasive ability to effectively sharpen a dull knife in less than a minute and bring the edge to a keen razor finish.
For those who wish to get the job done you can use a coarse (250) grit diamond. This diamond surface tends not to be for your household kitchen knives but lends itself well for sharpening axes, shovels, garden tools, industrial shop tools and de-burring application.
For very fast metal removal (not generally for household kitchen knives) extra coarse (150) grit diamond for roughing in or prepping for final finish.
To achieve the ultimate in a polished finish use a Superfine (1200) grit diamond sharpener. This level of grit is designed to polish and fine finish to perfection.
